It's that time of year again, time one more to head up to our favorite
mountain top & dance well past dawn. This year's lineup features a lot
of familiar faces, but a few special guests will be joining us as
always, to bring that wonderful mix of sounds that Straylight parties
are known for. With that being said here is the short version of this
year's line up :

Starting at around 8pm & going until 9pm, SEVENTH SWAMI, from Sacramento

SEVENTH SWAMI represnts the Ambient Mafia, Escape Artists & WantIt

At 9pm will be Straylight DJ : BEETJUNKEY from Monterey. Some of you may
know him as Kyle the mad accountant, but there's soo much more to this

At 3:45am we have a very special guest DJ performing for us, he's such a
big name that we can't put his name on the lineup for fear of
overloading our spot. But suffice to say that he's known everywhere on

Then at 5am will be the return of our own DJ PARADIGM, now living in
Kansas City. One of the Straylight founders, and now a resident of the
midwest. As well as one of the founders of the Xience crew. His latest

At 6:15 will be MACHI from Millwaukee, representing the Xience crew. The
leading progressive DJ in the upper midwest, MACHI's fluid style and

At 7:30 will be SATURNIA from San Francisco representing the CUT Label
Group & the Phoenix Family will be gracing us with one of her special

At 9am will be OPEN DECKS!!!! Featuring the best of who's still standing
to keep us going till the generator runs out of gas, or we do, whichever
happens first...

Now some things to remember :

Camping is highly encouraged. It's great to get out there before sunset,
as the view is one of the best I've ever seen.

But NO FIRES, as the area that this will be happening at is full of lots
of dry grass that would burn very fast.

Also this is a LEAVE NO TRACE event, so please don't let any garbage hit
the ground, we will have trash bags around. Also if you see anyone drop
something ,please ask them to pick it up. Leaving a trashed party site is
the kind of thing that makes it hard to find more party spots.

Now a bit about the road, it's a very windy road all the way down the
coast, then up the mountain, it's a one lane paved road, once at the top
of the mountain the last 4 miles are on a graded dirt road, but most
cars can
make it down there just fine, unless your car is lowered you should be fine.

new mix by Straylights own Paradigm

Paradigm - 20 cent memory

This is the first mix ive recorded in well over a year. It is suited for that time of morning just as the first rays of sun are begining to break the horrizon. The mix builds from minimal full on, with ever increasing melodies and basslines untill a climatic finish with a gentle let down at the end.
I hope you enjoy this, as this mix is deeply personal for me, as a dear family member passed away while i was recording it. As a result, its a live recording, with no redos, or studio editing. I felt that i wanted to capture that moment, and preserve it just as it was... thus making this mix all the more special and personal....

Directions to the Event

1. Take all appropriate freeways to Hwy 1 South heading South of Monterey.

2. About 5 miles or so South of Monterey Hwy 1 will slim down to 2 lanes just inside the city limits of Carmel.

3. At your 4th Stop Light will be the intersection of Hwy 1 + Rio Road. RESET YOUR ODOMETER. (landmarks should be a Chevron and a shopping center on your left hand side and a small bridge ahead of you. !! This is the best and last place to get gas and supples. DO NOT STOP AT ANY STORES PAST THIS POINT !!)

4. Follow Hwy 1 South for 53.5 miles and make a LEFT hand turn on NACIEMENTO ROAD. (Reset your Odometer)

5. Follow Naciemento Road for 7 Miles and make a RIGHT hand turn onto SOUTH COAST RIDGE ROAD (Reset Odometer)

6. After 1 mile you will veer to the RIGHT.

7. Continue following the road through all the switchbacks

8. At 4.4 miles you will make a RIGHT hand turn onto Pruitt Ridge road/Alm's Ridge. (Reset Odometer)

9. At .6 Miles you will take a slight left and look for one of our wonderful parking attenda

As it currently stands we'r tenativly planning on another Big Sur party arround the end of June. Hi All:

The time is nearly here!!!! This Saturday night we will be dancing under the stars with music & Freinds. This will be the 6th year we've been doing this adventure & each time we strive to create an experience like no other. To push things to a new level this time we will have 2 stages of musical fun. One that has some of the west coast's finest Psy-Trance DJs & one that has a wild mix of sounds, although it will be mostly some form of Breaks. Now a word about the road, it's a very windey road all the way down the coast, then up the mountain, it's a one lane paved road, once at the top of the mountain the last 4 miles are on a graded dirt road, but most cars can make it down there just fine, unless your car is lowered you should be fine. Also this is a LEAVE NO TRACE event, so please don't let any garbage hit the ground, we will have trash bags arround. Also if you see anyone drop something ,please ask them to pick it up. Leaving a trashed party site is the kind of thing that makes it hard to find more party spots. One other thing, in years past we have thrown totally free parties, which we have spent quite alot on, so this time to help make it easier to throw further events, we will be asking people for a $10 donation, but it is entirely optional, no one will be turned away. Please know that we are not doing this to make a profit, simply trying not to be broke for the next 2 months becuse we wanted to give our freinds a good time, I hope that seems reasonable. So now on with the set times.

1. Take all appropriate freeways to Hwy 1 South heading South of Monterey.
2. About 5 miles or so South of Monterey Hwy 1 will slim down to 2 lanes
just inside the city limits of Carmel.
3. At your 4th Stop Light will be the intersection of Hwy 1 & Rio Road.
RESET YOUR ODOMETER. (landmarks should be a Chevron and a shopping center on
your left hand side and a small bridge ahead of you.) ** this is the best / last place to get gas and supples. DO NOT STOP AT ANY STORES PAST THIS POINT**
4. Follow Hwy 1 South for 53.5 miles and make a LEFT hand turn on NACIEMENTO
ROAD. (Reset your Odometer)
5. Follow Naciemento Road for 7 Miles and make a RIGHT hand turn onto SOUTH
COAST RIDGE ROAD (Reset Odometer)
6. After 1 mile you will veer to the RIGHT.
7. Continue following the road through all the switchbacks
8. At 4.4 miles you will make a RIGHT hand turn onto Pruitt Ridge road/Alm's
Ridge. (Reset Odometer)
9. At .6 Miles you will take a slight left and look for one of our wonderful
parking attendants to instruct you where to park your vehicle.

That party rocked hard. I think we out smarted mother nature, the mosquitos and the sun. That Sound system was the best yet and the decor gets better every time. I don't think we had to recover a single vehicle. Thanks for the words of wisdom post Micheal you rock! And why didn't Micheal spin? you all are bastards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Ambient Mafia is a San Francisco-based DJ collective that specializes in downtempo, or chill music.

Back in 1999, a group of chill DJs decided to band together to represent the side of DJ culture that was more interested in creating a cool atmosphere than in what the Future Sound of London best described as the “indiscreet blowjob” side of the DJ scene. Not that we don’t love getting indiscreet blowjobs. We do. Especially our girls.

Anyway, the Mafia quickly made a name for itself on the then-thriving massive scene. Promoters soon learned the value of having a skilled downtempo crew in their chill rooms, as opposed to their wannabe DJ friends trainwrecking their way thru a crate of trance b-sides.

With a few exceptions, the days of the massive are over, but the Ambient Mafia continues to be a visible presence on the local scene through residencies and appearances at venues like Anu, 111 Minna, Space 550 and various underground venues.

Times change, but the Mafia mission remains the same – to give people music that makes them think and dance and … chill.

It's that time of year again, when the sun starts sticking arround longer & the nights start getting warmer & we start getting that itch to dance all night under the stars. Last year, on May 23rd, Secret Psychedelica was broken. We were scheduled to have Hujaboy come in to help celebrate our 4 year anniversary. Unfortunately, there were a handful of events that took place and Hujaboy was not able to make it (until our Halloween show). With the help of Aaron Jae, we re-organized the anniversary party which featured Breakbeat Scientist, Reid Speed. This gave birth to Secret Breakedelica. The night was an overwhelming success and we've been looking for a reason to do more. In fact, we almost started it back up at the Buddha Lounge in Mountain View but in the end, we felt it would be better to have the night in a familiar spot. It wasn't until the end of January that there was talk about changing Secret Psychedelica two twice a month at the Savoy. So, here we are now, instead of two Secret Psychedelica nights, we've got something new...the bastard child of Secret Psychedelica. The main musical focus on this night will be breaks of all sorts and your usual psychedelic suspects will be in the "backroom" playing 80s/90s electronica.

Kosmikneils relationship with sound systems started with the free festival scene of the 80's/90's. This set the blueprint for Trigger, the club night Neil started in 1994, which has gained worldwide recognition. Neil's dedication and passion for the sound that moves him is notorious and has seen him get bookings all over the UK and USA. As well as being resident DJ at Trigger and DJ'ing all over the world, he has twice attended the Miami Winter Music Conference with the Fuel Records crew and the infamous Fuel sound system cars, and toured the States alongside Tipper. Eve gathering. WOW. Has it really been 6 years together! To think that it
was that long ago that Spook, Carl & Katie

Tonia,LiNZ,Yosh, and the rest of all you psycho's first met, and the Phoenix family formed.
Now 6 years later were going back to the original spot that it first took place.

On this wondrous occasion, I decided to give back to the
community
I've come from, so I decided to fly out some of the top psy DJ'S from around the
U.S.
It will be wonderful to join the tribes and become united with under one trance banner.

For this gathering we will be heading 2.5hours North of SF. A retreat for the insanity of the city and a chance to regroup

North American eletronica culture. Known for his heavy hitting dark style, and flawless mixing, he will find a very receptive crowd
out west for his first California appearance.

BARAKUDA (psytribe) - Los Angeles
Barakuda is one of the founders of LA's legendary psytribe. Hailed as one of so-cals top morning dj's his epic sets are known for
setting that perfect daytime mood , while still keeping the energy on the dance floor pumping

DAI (psytribe) -Japan / Los Angeles
Dai is psytribes most universal DJ. A jack of all styles he is equally adept at playing night time stormers, or afternoon
progressive. Also know for his precision mixing, and attention to detail. This time around he will be treating us to some
progressive grooves.

off a blistering set at last weeks Ritual Dance, this guy is on fire right now

The lineup has been crafted to satisfy the needs of even the most picky trancer. Things will start off light and energetic, and only

increase from there. As midnight approaches things will deepen, allowing us to feel the movement into the new year. As we cruise into
the 2 o'clock hour, the tempo will pick up, and the darkness will fall. AS the light of morning approaches, we will begin to see the
light at the end of the tunnel, as our navigators will bring us back from the dark side. As we approach noon, well give you one more
blast of the heavy nasty, to work out any last bits of energy your legs may still have, and then as the afternoon comes upon us
we will lighten to load with some progressive to leave your spirits just right for the journey home.

I just recorded this on 12/02/05. It’s like a journey down a steep path through a dark forest somewhere in Northeastern America. Kind of creepy, kind of mysterious, little bits of light popping through the forest ceiling, slippery footing on the mossy rocks, etc...
